POP Rivets, also known as blind rivets, are most typically utilized in applications where there is no access to the joint’s back side (blind side). Rivets are made up of two parts, one of which is termed the stem or mandrel and the other is the rivet body, shell, or hat. The cap as well as the mandrel are both pre-assembled and ready to use. The mandrel is drawn using a riveting tool, which causes the body to deform and clamp down on the junction. The mandrel snaps and is discarded once the clamping force is reached. Blind rivets have the advantage of not being material specific, which means they can be used to unite two various types of materials in the same way.

A hole is drilled and the rivet is seated within the hole to employ a blind rivet. The mandrel is then pulled against the rivet’s hat by a tool. The mandrel’s back has a bulge or is attached to the hat in some way, causing the hat’s edges to expand down into the material. A design flaw in the mandrel snaps when this expansion reaches the material and develops pressure and reaches its maximum force capability. Leaving a rivet that was properly put.

When the mandrel grows too tight in the cloth, it will snap off at a certain point, leaving a piece of the mandrel within the hat. In the materials, a properly sized and fitted blind rivet will hold tightly and strong as a permanent junction. The rivet will be loose and spin if the drilled hole is too large, and if the drilled hole is too tiny, the rivet will not install properly, resulting in a bad seal.

One of the most important advantages of rivets is that they can’t be over-torqued or under-torqued. The rivet will always install perfectly if the right diameter and grip range are chosen.

Applications of Blind Rivets
If properly fitted, POP Rivets can be utilized almost anyplace. RVs, trailers, aircraft, machinery, jeans, small electronics, structural beams, battleships, and submersibles are among the most common applications.
