Galvanized iron pipe (GI pipe)  is referred to as GI pipe. MS stands for mild steel, while gi stands for hot-dipped galvanized steel. The pipe will most likely be built of steel rather than iron these days. On water pipe lines, galvanized iron pipes are often utilized.

GI pipes are a different type of pipe that is utilized in a range of applications and industries. Galvanization is the process of coating iron or steel with a layer of zinc to prevent corrosion and rusting. GI pipe is a relatively ductile metal that has no carbon. Zinc is a long-lasting metal that serves to extend the life of iron and steel. Most structural applications use galvanized iron pipes and steel, which are coated with zinc to provide 100 percent rust resistance. A GI pipe can be identified by

Light-Class A: The pipe is color-coded in yellow to make it easier to identify.

The pipe is identified by a blue hue. Medium-Class B: The pipe is identified by a blue color.

Class C (heavy) The pipe has a red identification mark on it.

Same ERW welding – GP Pipes if thin sheets of carbon steel are first zinc (galvanic coating) coated through electroplating and then rolled into pipes. GP – Galvanized Pipe, a more contemporary designation for galvanized pipe. GI – Galvanized Iron (GI is used to galvanize both iron and steel).
